Jean Paul is a Principal Consultant of Avanguard Business Consultants Inc., where he helps organizations discover, unlock, and capture hidden and untapped value through financial management excellence and intelligent risk management.

He brings 25 years of international experience in finance, enterprise risk management, and corporate (board) governance, having served as Financial Controller for Diageo plc at its HQ in London, and as Finance Director / Board member for its subsidiary in Seychelles. He also served as in-resident and individual consultant for various international organizations, including the UN World Food Programme and UN International Fund for Agricultural Development. He currently serving on the Board of Just Us Inc., a Canadian nonprofit organization.

Throughout his career, Jean Paul has supported governments, large corporations, startups, entrepreneurs, nonprofit and development institutions in preparing and reviewing funding proposals, conducting financial management due diligence reviews, implementing the financial controllership model, new Chart of Accounts, and ERPs (SAP), designing and implementing resilient risk management frameworks, testing internal control effectiveness, conducting assurance reviews for SOX 404 and board reporting purposes, preparing for tax audits, internal and external audits, building financial models for investment appraisal and decision support, etc. across multiple countries in the UK, Africa and Canada.

Jean Paul is a Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) and a Certified Risk Management Professional (RIMS-CRMP). He also holds advanced training in financial technology from the University of Oxford and a Master’s degree in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from HEC Paris.

His professional focus includes shareholder value creation, financial modeling for non-profit and startup fundraising, and investment appraisal, financial controllership, enterprise risk management, business continuity management, corporate governance, and supporting startups and growing organizations through fractional CFO and CRO advisory services.

Beyond his professional work, Jean Paul is passionate about mentoring and coaching others, particularly entrepreneurs and young professionals navigating complex career and business decisions. As a husband and father of three, he values family, personal growth, and meaningful human connection.

Outside of work, Jean Paul enjoys playing golf, listening to uplifting music, and engaging in thoughtful conversations that inspire personal and professional growth.
